She had the following history. Shortly before the patient's admission to the Mercy Hospital in Charlotte her husband died suddenly in Durhem, North Carolina. At the time of admission Mrs. Dozier was in a profound state of shock and depression. Before leaving Durham she had large doses of sedatives and she was asleep most of the time for the first few days. For a long period of time Mrs. Dozier was despondent and was in a very highly nervous condition. She had no evidence of delusions, hallucinations or any forms of in- sanity. She was very ill from shock over her husband's death and did not feel at all able physically to carry on business affairs at that time. She has recovered completely from her nervous shock and her depress-— ion. She is thoroughly capable of taking care of her own business and has been able to do so for several months. Mr. and Mrs. Dozier lived together in Statesville and Durham for a number of years and were the closest of friends and had an undying love for each other. Consequently, she was in a nervous shock and under the influence of sedatives for a while after coming to Charlotte. She is now mentally clear and physically able to do most anything. She is intelli- gent, smart and has excellent reasoning power. Yours very truly, Fi ciichet ee I a Aen Claude B, Squires, M. D, P.S. Mrs. Dozier was seen Shortly after her admission to the hospital by a psychiatrist, Dr. W. D. Holbrook of Char- lotte. He did not fina any evidence of insanity. She was in a state of shock from depression and grief over her husband's death. ¢ FE fee it C. B. We are not asking the Clerk to approve the settlement until you have had an opportunity to go over these carbon copies, confer with Mra. Dozier and make such recommendations as you see fit to the Clerk. We assume that you will be in touch with the Clerk after you have had an opportunity to do this. We have delivered to the Clerk check payable to Mrs. Dozier as Execu- trix for $7,189.91 shown in the settlement as the cash balance distributed to her. We have delivered the Federal Home Loan Bank note and Federal National Mortgage Association debenture Safe Keeping Receipts to the Merchants and Farmere Bank with our letter requesting the Merchants and Farmers Bank to have the notes and debentures shipped from New York to the American Commercial Bank, Charlotte, N. C, with instructions to the American Commercial Bank to deliver these securities to Mrs. Dozier and procure from her a receipt therefor. We believe this will be a more convenient and satisfactory means of delivering these documents than any other method. Of course, we realize that our obliga- tion will not be discharged until these securities are actually delivered to Mrs. Dozier. If for any reason Mrs. Dozier is not happy with these investments at the time they are delivered, I will arrange to take any part or all of them off her hands at cost plus accrued interest. I wish to call your attention to the following matters with reference to our computation of commissions in this estate. For the purpose of clarity we have inserted a summary of the cash receipts and the joint principal items and joint income iteme are not used in computing the commission nor are the savings accounts in the Union National Bank, City Savings Bank and Citizens Bank, all of Charlotte considered in the computation of commission. In valuing the stocks coming into our hands we have used the valuation on date of death, however, the value of this property “when received" on January 21, 1959 was substantially higher than these values.
