w= LONG TO Sia JESUS | We would see Jesus we have longed to see hin
Since first the story of his love was told;
‘je would that he night sojourn now anong us,
As once he sojourned with the Jews of ald.
vie would sce Jesus! see the infant sleeping,
As on our nother's knees we, too, have slept;
We would see Jesus’! see hin gently weeping,
As we, in.infancy, ourselves have wept.
ve would behold hin, os ho wandercd lowly--
No roon for hin, too often, in the jnn--
Behold that Life, the poeautiful, the holy,
The only sinless in this world of sin.
‘Ic would scc Tosust we would have hin with us,
A guest beloved and honored .1t our poard ;
How blessed were our pread if it were brokcn
Before the sncred presence of the Lord!
‘'e would sec Josus! we would have hin with us,
Friend of our households and our children
dear,
‘ho still, should death and sorrow cone anong
us,
Iould hasten to us, and would touch the bicr.
~
‘e would sec Jesus! not alone in sorrow,
But we would have hin with us in our mirth;
He, at whose right habd are joys forever,
Dost not disdain to bless the joys of earth.
Wie would see Jesust but the wish is faithless;
Thou still art with us, wno hast loved us
well;
Thy blessed promise, “J an with you always,"
Is ever faithful, 0 T:inanuelt
