It will have to be on a week day as we save the weekends for the children. Usually one or the other family comes sometime during the weekend. Clyde keeps pretty busy keeping up the yard and making things of wood in his little shop for the children and grandchildren. He will have to tell you about it when we see you. I keep busy doing what all housewives do all morning. Then in the afternoon I am usu- — ally in the Library or Court House or both doing research for some one who has written ine Some months the requests pile up faster thanJ can answer, especially if we have a number to come in personally and . seem lost. In that case, I always volunteer my services and some- Si times spend most of the afternoon finding books and records for vis- itors. I write these distant inquters that I'll hélp them "Free for Nothin'" if they will come here. But if I have to do the research and correspondence I ask strangers $2. per hour. I always was a poor timekeeper, though, and nieve fail to work much more time than I charge for. I never charge friends or relatives anything. | I am enclosing a request I wish you would take over. I just | don't know anything about these people. I think I remember her ask- ing me for help on the line once before and I looked thru what we ~ had here. Any way, I hate to refuse; but I hope you can help her. Deal directly with her and charge her for your time and effort, please. | Thank you so much for the clipping. How I wish I had known he lived in Troutman, I would have ‘been over bothering him. His picture looks like my people and I feel sure he is related to me. I remember when I used to read the Wilkes paper I'd see W.M.R. Church mentioned often,Hayes lists him as a school-teacher in the same list with Clyde's © father in 1893-9) and 1891; but I'm sure Clyde's father was teaching years before that. I believe W.M.R. Church lived at Adley P.O. up the Yadkin above Wilkesboro. I have an idea he is descended from Amos 2 Church, the oldest of the "John Church from Va." who appears in Rowan Co. tax list in 1761 and went-on to Wilkes¢hadedand in both “ilkes and Ashe real early. He is not in ®o~an records after 177); but he and descendants helped fill the pages of Wilkes records ever since. Om Your cousin, Mrs. Utley's, fried, Mrs. Florence Ferrabee, is a descdt — of Amos. I descend from his brother “lijah. I wonder if either of the | children mentioned in this clipping would be interested in Te eg : notes with me. I feel pretty sure the Mr. Baker on 601 above Mocks- | ville,-(had a long lane in to his farm house with pear trees on both sides) was kin to my mother; but I failed fe 3 about it util both — had passed away. I've tried to contact thé A t a look at their | family Bible bu Tate success. If telephoning did not cost so much I'd call thelts a he ubye Queen, who is in the Library often, would do that for me. I know most of Elijah's offspring but very little - about my more distant cousins. I never did find out what Eaton it | was that Charity Church married. I notice the R.R.Church in Wilkes, his brother(there may be more than one), Hayes mentions several times as a leader in business and civic groups. You have certaingy started something, sending me this clipping. © Thank you for writing. So I guess I shall just give up on this couple's descendants, which I hate to do. I can remember my Mother talking about the Stimson family. Our man that mows the yard said the wet weather was about to work him to death as it made the grass gpow so fast. He has a regular job so the yard work ig after working on that perday and on Wednesday after- noons, However, he has three machines and three sons to help him push the mowers, but he has to go along to drive the truck as the boys are youngsters, I suppose Wright Frost has written you'of the coming marriage of hie daughter. It is to be durin August. I believe he did give the date but it has left me, He retired from school work on June 12th, and I sup he is giving hia attention to his Credit Union that he hae,0h the side for a number of years, His daughter will live in New Jersey, so he is hoping she will have time to do some research on Frost line for him. My friegi said she enjoyed the-article and it was somewhat of a coincident as she’ had heard of it just a few days before my letter got to her. .One of her cousins from eastern part of the state had been to see her and told her about it - smme one had sent it, to this cousin, Peter Claywell was a brother of my friends grandmother, and she remembered her mother talking of "Uncle Peter". Mr. James ~ Claywell was a brother of my frends grandmother . I wrote Mary Virginia Woo ward about the Henry and Fannie Poole's marriage dateeand asked her to look up early Census to see if either had children listed and she found as bebow: é ; Henry W,. Pool - brickmason William 8 2 Lottie J 1 I suppose there is no way of telling if this Henry Pool was the son William and Jane Bvaline Poole,. (Nee: Woodward), You have been so nicé about looking up, data for me, and I wish that you would send a bill for your time as I would like to pay you for this. ys We have been searching in Hampshire County, Mass. for our great grandfather, John Hancock Woodward, as.my second brother left note that he was from that county, and my niece found it during a search for other papers which she had packed away. Howé_ver, a card from Mary Virginia Woodward today states that grandfather, John W.
