Da That he is a resident of the City of Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina. -3- he desires his name changed to Julius Strause. -4- That he gave ten days notice of this application by posting a notice at the Court House door, pursuant to Section 2971 of the Consolidated Statutes. -5— That his reasons for desiring a change of name are as follows: (a) That his insurance is made out in the name of Julius Strawsky; that he is operating under the firm name and style of Strause's and that the insurance company has made repeated requests that he have his name changed by court in order that the name under which he operates his business may be identical with that by which he is insured. (b) That he is generally known as Julius Strause. | (c) That the name Strawsky is difficult to pronounce and that in carrying on his business, expecially by telephone, he frequently encounters difficulty in making parties understand his name, which results in mail being sent in the wrong name, and causing him trouble and embarrassment. (ad) That attached hereto are affidavits from two persons stating that your petitioner is a man of good character. Garland Shelton died on April 10, 1940, leaving surviving three sons, this applicant and two others older; that the applicant is the youngest child; that neither of the brothers is called or ordinarily goes by the name of the deceased father, "Garland Shelton" and that this petitioner, ever since he was an infant, has generally been known and called "Sonnie" in the family, without any individual distinction or personal given name; that he was affectionately attached to his father, who was very close to the petitioner and this petitioner desires to have his name changed from William Garnett Shelton to William Garland Shelton in order that he may hereafter bear and be known by the name of his father, Garland Shelton, out of his affection and leve for his father, now deceased; that his father was always known by the name of "Garland Shelton" in the community and the name of "Garland Shelton" has a wide-spread identification and acquaintanceship; whereas, the nickname by which the applicant is ordinarily known has no peculiar significance or identity.
