1, 1921
- The undersigned automobile and accessory dealers of States- ville, N. Ce, pledge themselves to sell no individgal, firm or corporation at retail except for CASH on and after Beptember 1, 1921: and each of the undersigned hereby deposits $25,00 to guar— antee the faithful performance of this agreement, which deposit shall be forfeited upon satidfactory evidence submitted to the
undersigned that the intent and purpose of this agreement to elim inate every feature of credit from the automobile and acessory
business in Statesville has been violated.
We hereby appoint D. M. Ausley as our Trustee to hold the
aforesaid deposits; and in case any deposit shall be forfeit
because of any violation of this agreement, which sfall be de-
cided by a three-fourths majority vote of the undersigned firmg,
then the said Trustee is hereby authorized to distribute such for— feit equally among the remaining parties to this agreement who have
not forfeited their deposits.
We are compelled to adopt this Cash policy for two good reasons;
first, because we must pay CASH for practically everything we sell;
and, second, to enable us to eliminate the loss and expense of carry-
ing accounts indefinitely on our books.
We propose to allow the public the benefit to be derived in the
saving of a cash policy by allowing 5% discount on every purchase
from us, amounting to not less than One Dollar, on and after Sep-
tember 1, 1921, with the exception of cars, trucks, tractors, gas-
oline and oil.
This 5% discount is also applicable to all pepair work done in our shops, and no repair job will be permitted to leave our premises until payment is made.
While there are many customers whose patronage we value most highly and to whom we would gladly extend reasonable time credit, it is ut- terly impossible to establish and maintain a strict cash policy ifa single exemption is permitteds and we earnestly hope that our custom ere will understand that in adopting this cash policy we have their interests as mch in mind as we have our own, and that they will not use personal or business relations as a plea for credit in any form
whatever.
We also wish to announce that no employe of ours is authorized to bay anything on credit and have it charged to any of the undersigned firms. Business houses are requested te insist upon the CASH cover— ing any purchases made by use
