SALE OF COUNTY PROPERTY: Following the board's re-adiournment. to Reqular Session, Chairman
Hedrick asked Mr. Bill Pope, County Attorney, to read a resolution orenared for the board's adop-
tion. Mr. Pope read the following:
WHEREAS, Iredell County owns a tract of approximately 7.14 acres located at SR 2350 and SR
2561, South in Fallstown Township: and
WHEREAS, said tract, was originally acquired by Iredell County for County Home purposes: and
WHEREAS, Iredell County has not operated a county home for several years and has previously
conveyed several parcels of the old county home property to be used for industrial ourooses: and
WHEREAS, the 7.14 acre tract was heretofore intended for use as a training facility for fire
fighters, but the fire fighters association has relinquished any interest in the continued use of
the prpoerty: and
WHEREAS Iredell County does not have at present a foreseeable need for its 7.14 parcel and has
received an offer from Gilliam Furniture Company to acquire said site and develop and use it for
industrial purposes: and
WHEREAS, the fair market value of its 7.14 acre parcel has been determined by appraisal and the
offer from Gilliam Furniture Company anoroximates the appraised fair market value: and
WHEREAS, Iredell County proposes to accept the offer of Gilliam Furniture Company and to
execute a deed conveying a title upon certain restrictions:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
(1) That a Public Hearing is hereby called to be held on April 5,
1988, at 7:30 P.m., in the Agricultural Conference Rooms 1 &
2, Statesville, NC:
(2) That Notice of Said Public Hearing shall be published at
least ten (10) days prior to said meeting, which notice
shall disclose:
(a) That the interest to be conveyed is fee simple
title with certain restrictive convenants:
(b) That the value of the property is $36,000;
(c) That the proposed purchase price is $36,000:
(d) That Iredell County proposed to approve the sale
and conveyance to Gilliam Furniture Company or
a related or affiliated company.
MOTION from Commissioner Crosswhite, second from Commissioner Stewart, to adopt the resolution
,just read by Mr. Bill Pope, County Attorney.
VOTING: Ayes - 5; Nays - 0.

ADJOURN: MOTION from Chairman Hedrick to ad,iourn the meeting. Time: 8:25 p.m. Next meeting
