Rhyne, III NCNB Trustee, uw Creighton Wrenn 114.08 COMMUNITY-BASED ALTERNATIVES BUDGET AMENDMENTS: The board was presented with a budget amendment for the Home School Based Guidance for Iredell County Schools. The increase was $3,046, all State CBA funds. MOTION from Commissioner Campbell to approve the budget amendment as presented and authorize the chairman to sign the agreement on behalf of the county. VOTING: Ayes - 5; Nays - 0. TAX COLLECTOR'S REPORT - JULY: Joe Ketchie, tax collector, presented the report for the month of July 1984. The board accepted the report as presented. BUILDING PERMIT BILLING: Mr. Campbell, county commissioner, questioned the status of the building permit billing system. He said contractors have to get permits for various building inspections and spend a considerable amount of time going to the county office. Mr. Campbell said the contractors would like to be able to telephone regarding the inspections and to be placed on a monthly billing plan. The county manager said the staff was presently working on a computer program to enable the inspections department to do this. Commissioner Campbell asked that they make haste in getting this program started. SCHOOL PROPERTY: Commissioner Campbell discussed the Harmony School property and the Union Grove School property with the board. The Iredell County Board of Education has declared these two properties surplus and would like to sell them. Commissioner Campbell said he would like to see the Harmony School property turned over to the county from the Board of Education. The property at the Union Grove School, Mr. Campbell said he thought the house should be sold and the land should be kept. It was the consensus of the board that the county manager should contact Dr. Don Williams, Iredell County School Superintendent, and convey the board's wishes on this matter.
