RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD (2 appts.): MOTION by Commissioner Johnson to
table these two appointments until the January 20's meeting.
VOTING: Ayes - 5; Nays - 0.
NURSING HOME ADVISORY BOARD (1 apps.): Commissioner Fortner said she
understood there was a need for citizens residing in southern Iredell to be appointed on the
nursing/adult care home boards. Chairman Haire noted this need and moved to table this
appointment until the January 20`h meeting.
VOTING: Ayes - 5; Nays - 0.
COUNTY MANAGER'S REPORT: Mr. Mashburn reported that:
1. The construction permit for Phase II of the landfill expansion had been received.
2. The NACo Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., will be held Feb. 27 - March 3,
1998. Anyone desiring to attend should notify the staff as soon as possible.
3. The Planning Session for the commissioners will be held Thursday, January 15, 1998,
8:00 a.m., at the Queen's Landing in Mooresville.
Chairman Haire asked when the Mooresville Transfer Station would be opened. Mashburn
said it should have been open by now. The inclement weather has stopped some construction. The
building is finished but the road needs completion.
