He said that since Mr. Hoke had withdrawn his request, he did not think the matter was properly before the board. He said he thought the board should reject the application since Mr. Hoke's name was removed, and let any person who desires rezoning make an individual petition and go through the regular channels. Chairman Troutman said that when the board received a copy of the affidavit from Mr. Hoke, the board had consulted with the county attorney and the county manager. Robert Randall, County Attorney, said that he understood the point that Mr. Bondurant was raising, but there is a provision in the zoning ordinance which permits the county board on its own motion to proceed with the rezoning and the county board can go beyond the request made by the petitioners. Mr. Randall said at this point, the board has two pending zoning matters before the board, one regarding the rezoning request as petitioned by Messrs. Yount, Hoke, and Little, and one zoning matter which the board initiated at its last meeting, which would include a larger area than the petitioners had requested. Mr. Randall said he believed it was in order for the board to proceed.
