Third Creek Watersheds: Mashburn said it did appear that Rowan County might be willing
to financially assist with repairs to the flood control structures. Tim Russell, the Rowan manager,
recently asked for additional information about the structures.
CLOSED SESSIONS: Citing Personnel - G.S. 143-318.11(a) (6), Property Acquisition
- G.S. 143-318.11(a) (5) and Legal - G.S. 143-318.11(a) (3) Chairman Haire E9to enter into
Closed Session.
VOTING: Ayes - 5; Nays - 0.
RETURN TO OPEN SESSION
APPROVAL OF NEW DETECTIVE POSITION: MOTION by Commissioner
Johnson to create and approve a new detective position for the Sheriff s Department and to fund the
necessary equipment associated with the position.
Chairman Haire advised that no additional funds were needed since revenue on hand from
seized funds would be used.
VOTING: Ayes - 5; Nays - 0.
(Note: Budget Amendment MA will be used for the position.)
ADJOURNMENT: MOTION by Chairman Haire to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 p.m.
NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, September 21, 1999 at 5:00 p.m. (Agenda Briefing) and 7:00 p.m.,
(Regular Meeting) in the Iredell County Government Center, 200 South Center Street, Statesville,
NC.
