COUNTY MANAGER'S REPORT: Mr. Mashburn reported that the Mooresville Transfer
Station was in full operation. He thanked Ron Weatherman, the Solid Waste Director, and Jim
Vernon, Director of Support Services, for their work in managing and overseeing the new
construction. Mashburn also thanked Susan Blumenstein, the finance director, for her assistance in
the development and completion of the proposed FY 98-99 Iredell County Budget.
CLOSED SESSIONS - Citing G.S. 143-318.1 L(a)(5) - Property Acquisition, Chairman
Haire moved to enter into closed session.
VOTING: Ayes - 5; Nays - 0.
PURCHASE OF PROPERTY: MOTION by Commissioner Fortner to authorize the
county manager to appropriate an additional $17,000 towards the purchase of property in the North
Iredell section for the purpose of creating a transfer station facility.
VOTING: Ayes - 5; Nays - 0.
ADJOURNMENT: MOTION by Chairman Haire to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 P.M.
