HomeMy WebLinkAboutC.054.93008_049348 WHEREAS, Iredell County would be deprived, not only of its present ordinance, but of the authority to carry out timely and adequate inspections, tests and enforce- ment, with revocation of permits if necessary, and WHEREAS, this authority constitutes the basis for the excellence of the county's milk program, and WHEREAS, the Iredell County Board of Health would be prohibited from adopting rules concerning other food products that are more stringent than those snDlying throughout the state, even if such rules were necessary to protect the public's health in Iredell County, and ' WHEREAS, the health of the citizens of Iredell County could be greatly endanger- ed by the risks of drinking potentially outdated, adulterated or contiminated milk that would result from a lack of local enforcement authority, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Iredell County Board of Health does hereby go on record opposing an y and all legislative efforts to weaken in any way or to any degree the authoirty that Local Health Departments now have to regulate and survey the quality of retail milk products at the local level, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Iredell County Board of Health does hereby go on record supporting the efforts of Dr. Robert M. Hall, M.C. Wake County Health Director; Mr. Harry Privette, Chairman, Wake County Board of Health; Mr. Keith A. Glover, Member, Interstate Milk Shipper's Commission; the North Carolina Association of Local Health Directors; and the North Carolina Association of Sanitarian Supervisors; to insure that language in the proposed recodification of North Carolina Public Health Laws (House Bill 318) be written in such a way that continues the delegated authority of Local HealthDepartments to regulate the safety of milk supplies at the local level, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be furnished to the Delegation of North Carolina General Assembly.
