HomeMy WebLinkAboutC.054.93011_0736y Request from the Sheriffs Department to Add Five Additional Vehicles to the Law Enforcement Fleet: Chief Deputy Rick Dowdle said the sheriff was requesting to retain five vehicles that would soon be replaced with newer models. He said the older vehicles would be used by part-time reserve officers, and they were needed due to the regular fleet sometimes being reduced through accidents or repairs. Commissioner Williams asked if the department would ask for new vehicles to replace the five older models when it came time to remove them from the fleet. Dowdle said that in the past, the department had used support vehicles when the fleet had been reduced. Commissioner Johnson asked if the sheriffs department had enough funds to operate the older models in the FY 05-06 budget. Dowdle said yes. Williams asked if the insurance would increase. Mashburn said yes. Blumenstein said the county's insurance was handled through the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners, and the costs would not be calculated until it was time for annual renewal (February).
