IREDELL COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
December 5, 2022
The Iredell County Board of Commissioners met Monday, December 5, 2022, at 9:30AM,
in the Iredell County Government Center (Commissioners’ Meeting Room), 200 South Center
Street, Statesville, NC.
Board Members Present
Chair Melissa Neader
Vice Chair Bert Connolly
Scottie Brown
Gene Houpe
Brad Stroud, Sr.
Staff present: County Manager Beth Mull, County Attorney Lisa Valdez, Deputy County
Manager Susan Robertson, and Clerk to the Board Amy Anderson.
CALL TO ORDER by County Manager Beth Mull
INVOCATION by Commissioner Gene Houpe
ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN: County Manager Beth Mull, according to G.S. 153A-39,
opened the floor to nominations for Chairman.
Commissioner Stroud asked if election of officers is held annually.
Mull said election of chair and vice chair are held each December.
Commissioner Connolly nominated Melissa Neader
MOTION by Commissioner Houpe to close the floor to nominations and elect Melissa
Neader by acclamation.
VOTING: Ayes – 5; Nays – 0
Chair Neader then presided over the remainder of the meeting.
ELECTION OF VICE CHAIRMAN: Chair Neader opened the floor to nominations for
Vice Chairman.
Commissioner Stroud nominated Bert Connolly
MOTION by Commissioner Stroud to close the floor to nominations and elect Connolly
by acclamation.
VOTING: Ayes – 5; Nays – 0

APPOINTMENT OF THE COUNTY ATTORNEY: Chair Neader opened the floor for
nominations.
MOTION by Commissioner Houpe to appoint Lisa Valdez.
VOTING: Ayes – 5; Nays – 0
APPOINTMENT OF CLERK TO THE BOARD: Chair Neader opened the floor for
nominations.
MOTION by Commissioner Houpe to appoint Amy Anderson.
VOTING: Ayes – 5; Nays – 0
ADJOURNMENT: MOTION by Commissioner Stroud to adjourn at 9:34AM.
VOTING: Ayes – 5; Nays – 0
