REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF LEASE RENEWALS FOR THE DISTRICT
ATTORNEY'S OFFICE AND THE IN-HOUSE ARREST PROGRAM FACILITY: Evie
Caldwell, Purchasing Agent, was joined by Ed Dearman, Supervisor with the N.C. Probation and
Parole Office about the in-house arrest facility lease. Additional space was requested by Dearman
because there has been an increase in staff(twoofficers). The probation/parole office currently has
23 regular officers and 2 supervisors ( Dearman and Peggy King). Dearman said there was no
additional space at the present Davie and Stockton Street offices. In addition, the State requires
some security measures that the present offices do not have. There is space available at 110 E
Stockton Street which can accommodate the present staff along with the increase. This lease would
be in the amount $1,100 per month, including utilities for a two-year lease. The space will need to
be divided into offices and this will cost an additional $1,500 to $2,000.
ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Haire adjourned the meeting at 6:30 p.m., for a refreshment
break prior to the 7:00 p.m. meeting.
