privilege and honor of talking with many industrialists,
some of which are in this room tonight. They ask many
questions about taxes, utilities, airports, transportation,
labor market, government, educational facilities, churches,
and yes, hospitals.
I do not recall ever talking with an industrial
prospect that did not inquire into all aspects for our local
medical facilities and medical professionals. Medical
care for themselves, their families, and employees is high
on their list of items to consider when locating in a particular
community.
You, the commissioners, more than others, realize the
impact that a new industrial facility has on our county. The
two new plants just completed in Troutman, and another ready
to beging construction are examples of what I'm talking
about.
We haveheard the economy, unemployment and other factors
that affect our living habits discussed in detail. We have
discussed whether this is the time to borrow money. No
time is a good time to borrow money, but there are times
when this becomes necessary for most of us.
I have faith in this country, in this state, this county,
the county commissioners, and the people whom you represent,
and the trustees of Iredell Hospital and the board of
directors of Mooresville Hospital. I am no soothsayer nor
