GRADY SHOE, CHAIRMAN, LOWRANCE HOSPITAL BOARD
We are prepared to answer all your questions
about need, the amount of money required, the amount that
we borrow, and how we will pay it back. We are here
tonight for a simple issue --we want the people who own
the hospitals to decide their own future. We see no
reason the people should be denied a vote.
Yes, we fear what would happen to the hospitals
should our request fail in November, but we are willing to
take the risk and ask for the vote. It is our responsibility
to this community to plan for the future and ask the people
for their support. We are truly making a recommendation
based on our best information and judgment to the people of
Iredell County.
Both hospitals are together. We are both owned by
the citizens; we both have needs and we both seek a vote
of the people.
The volunteer trustees of these two responsible
hospitals have pledged to bring the issue before the public
and win or lose fairly by the vote of the citizens. Before
closing I would like to add that the board of directors
have debated long about the timing of the referendum.
