James Henderson 902 Knox Avenue Statesville, NC 28677 COUNTY MANAGER'S REPORT NC DEPARTMENT OFTRANSPORTATION'S REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO DISPOSE OF EXCAVATED MATERIALS AT THE SOLID WASTE FACILITY: The county manager said he had received a letter from the Department of Transportation indicating a withdrawal of a past request to dispose of excavated materials (associated with abridge realignment near the closed city landfill) at the Solid Waste Facility. INVITATION FROM CROSSROADS BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE TO TOUR MENTAL HEALTH FACILITIES: A Crossroads tour will be provided on Friday, March 12, 1999, beginning in Dobson, N.C., (administrative offices). The group will then travel to Mount Airy, Elkin, Yadkinville, and have lunch at Glutton's Restaurant (12 noon in Statesville). Next, the group will visit the Statesville and Mooresville offices. Arrival back in Dobson is estimated to be around 4:00 p.m. Commissioner Fortner said she would attend. INVITATION FROM CATAWBA COUNTY FOR JOINT DISCUSSION ON COMMON INTERESTS: A letter of invitation has been received from Catawba County to attend a three -county meeting on Thursday, March 11, 1999, 6:00 p.m., at Lineberger's Cattle Company Restaurant. The purpose of the joint meeting is to discuss items of "common interest." (The other county invited is Lincoln County.) Commissioner Johnson asked if there would be a specific agenda. The manager said there was not, however, he felt Lake Norman would be a discussion topic. CONSENSUS of the board to participate in the joint dinner meeting with Catawba and Lincoln County on Thursday, March 11, 1999, at 6:00 p.m. CITY/COUNTY MANAGER'S WINTER MEETING: Mr. Mashburn advised that he would be attending the statewide city/county manager's meeting in Chapel Hill, NC on February 3 - 5, 1999. INTRODUCTION OF ATTORNEY ANTHONY PREVETTE: County Attorney Pope introduced anew attorney with his firm, Anthony Prevette. Pope said Prevette was an Iredel I County native and ranked number one in his graduating law school class.
