SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
JUNE 28, 2007
The Iredell County Board of Commissioners met in Special Session on Thursday,
June 28, 2007, at 9:30 A.M., in the Iredell County Government Center (South Wing Conference
Room), 200 South Center Street, Statesville, NC.
Board Members Present
Chairman Marvin Norman
Steve Johnson
Godfrey Williams
Absent: Vice Chairman Sara Haire Tice (attending another county -related meeting)
Commissioner Ken Robertson (unable to attend due to a work conflict)
Staff present: Acting County Manager Susan Blumenstein and Clerk to the Board Jean
Moore.
Media present: Adam Beeson (Lake Norman Times) and Bethany Fuller (Record &
Landmark).
CALL TO ORDER by Chairman Norman.
REVIEW OF RF MICRO DEVICES' REQUEST FOR AN
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVE & THE CALL FOR A PUBLIC
HEARING ON JULY 24, 2007 AT 7:00 P.M.: Acting County Manager Susan Blumenstein
said RF Micro Devices, a semi -conductor manufacturing company, was interested in locating a
facility in the Mooresville area. She said (1) the company made radio frequency computer chips
for cell phones (2) the company had plans to purchase an existing facility in the Mooresville area
(3) the company planned a $15 million investment and (4) the company anticipated the creation
of 50 new jobs. Blumenstein said that based upon this information, and in accordance with the
county's economic development policy, the company might be eligible for a $267,000 (over a
five-year period) incentive. She said that if the board chose to hear more about the project, the
next step would be to call for a public hearing to seek public comments.
OTIO by Commissioner Johnson to call for a public hearing on July 24, 2007 at 7:00
p.m., regarding an economic development incentive of $267,000 (over a five-year period) for RF
Micro Devices based upon a $15 million investment in Iredell County.
VOTING: Ayes — 3; Nays — 0.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no other business to conduct, Chairman Norman made
a Xnotio to adjourn at 9:40 a.m. (NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 5 & 7 p.m., in
