REGULAR MINUTES
JUNE 5, 2007
The Iredell County Board of Commissioners met in Regular Session on Tuesday,
June 5, 2007, at 7:00 P.M., in the Iredell County Government Center (Commissioners' Meeting
Room), 200 South Center Street, Statesville, NC.

Staff present: County Manager Joel Mashburn, County Attorney Bill Pope, Deputy
County Manager Susan. Blumenstein, and Clerk to the Board Jean Moore.
CALL TO ORDER by Chairman Norman.
INVOCATION by Commissioner Johnson.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
ADJUSTMENTS OF THE AGENDA: OTIO by Commissioner Johnson to approve
the following agenda adjustment.
Addition: Closed Session - G.S. 143-318.11(a) (5) — Property Acquisition
VOTING: Ayes — 5; Nays — 0.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
Chairman Norman declared the meeting to be in a public hearing for three different items.
In regards to Case No. 0705-1, a Rezoning/Conditional Use request for the Alexander Railroad
Company, Attorney Pope administered the oaths to the people desiring to speak.
Citizen Comments Regarding the FY 2007-2008 Iredell County Budget
Health Reach Community Clinic: Jay Lewis, a board member of the clinic, asked for the
full requested funding of $15,000. (The staff had cut $10,000 and recommended the same
funding as FY 06-07 or $5,000. Mr. Lewis said the clinic needed $15,000 a month to operate, and
the Town of Mooresville contributed this amount. He said the county should appropriate the
same. Mr. Lewis said last year, 3,000 individuals were assisted on a total budget of $175,000.
The Counseling Center of Iredell: Heather Bartley, the new Executive Director of the
center introduced herself and thanked the board members for their financial support.
Fire Services:
John Dennis, on behalf of the Windemere Homeowners Association, thanked the board for
allowing the Barringer & Fallstown Fire District referendum in the fall. He said the homeowners
would benefit from improved insurance ratings.
Ken Jumev thanked the board members for their vote of confidence in approving the
performance based penny increase for fire protection. He said the taxpayers would be pleased
with the annual returns on the investment.
Terry Bibleheimer thanked the board members for their support of the fire departments and
especially for the recent decision on the Troutman district.
