HomeMy WebLinkAboutC.054.93011_1462 (2)IREDELL COUNTY BOARD OF BRIEFING MINUTES MARCH 20, 2007 The Iredell County Board of Commissioners met in Briefing Session on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at 5:00 P.M., in the Iredell County Government Center (South Wing Conference Room), 200 South Center Street, Statesville, NC. Board Members Present Chairman Marvin Norman Vice Chairman Sara Haire Tice Steve Johnson Ken Robertson Godfrey Williams Staff present: County Manager Joel Mashburn, Deputy County Manager Susan Blumenstein, Acting Planning Director Steve Warren, Planners William Allison and Rick Hurley, Tax Administrator Bill Doolittle, Purchasing Agent Dean Lail, Recreation Director Robert Woody, Social Services Director Don Wall, Income Maintenance Supervisor Lynn Deal, Work First Supervisor Linda Bledsoe, Inspections Director Lynn Niblock, and Clerk to the Board Jean Moore. CALL TO ORDER by Chairman Norman REQUEST FOR REVIEW OF A RESIDENTIAL GROWTH MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ORDINANCE FOR THE BRAWLEY SCHOOL ROAD PENINSULA & CALL FOR A PUBLIC HEARING: County Manager Mashburn said additional time was needed to review the growth management ordinance, and he suggested that the board postpone any further action. The board agreed to hold a special work session at 4 P.M. on April 3 about the ordinance. (A revised copy will be included in the agenda packets for that meeting date.) If a satisfactory document is presented at that time, the board may schedule a public hearing for April 17. REQUEST TO POSTPONE ACTION ON THE REZONING OF PROPERTY OWNED BY THE MCLAIN FAMILY LOCATED ON SNOW CREEK ROAD: Acting Planning Director Steve Warren said the planning board on March 7 heard a request from Phil, Harry, Louise, Mike, and Janet McLain regarding a property rezoning, and the matter was scheduled before the commissioners on April 3. He said a letter from the family had been received requesting a postponement until July 3. The board agreed to place the postponement request on the agenda and to grant the delay as desired by the McLain family. COURT SPACE STUDY COMMITTEE: Commissioner Tice said a committee to review court space needs was established at the Winter Planning Session. She asked who would coordinate the meetings. County Manager Mashburn said Assistant County Manager Tracy Jackson would notify the committee members about a meeting date and time. CROSSROADS' PSYCHO -SOCIAL CLUBHOUSE Commissioner Williams mentioned food preparation at the Twin Oaks Road clubhouse, and the facility not being up to standards for this activity. He said the provider paid Crossroads for the space, but the Crossroads officials had advised this money wasn't enough to fix the building. (All other agenda items were then discussed, and additional information may be found in the regular minutes.)
