BRIEFING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 6, 2007
The Iredell County Board of Commissioners met in Briefing Session on Tuesday,
February 6, 2007, at 5:00 P.M., in the Iredell County Government Center (South Wing
Conference Room), 200 South Center Street, Statesville, NC.

STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Joel Mashburn, Assistant Finance Director Deb
Alford, Assistant County Manager Tracy Jackson, Tax Collector Bill Furches, Purchasing Agent
Dean Lail, Solid Waste Director David Lambert, Library Director Steve Messick, Assistant
Library Director Peggy Carter, Acting Planning Director Steve Warren, and Clerk to the Board
Jean Moore.
CALL TO ORDER by Chairman Norman
PLANNINGIREZONING CASES: Acting Planning Director Steve Warren reviewed
the six rezoning cases, and in particular, he described the Dala Casa Landscaping & Designs
request. He said the request revealed that the county ordinance needed to be more thoroughly
reviewed, and the staff would attend to this matter. He said Attorney Bill Pope had reviewed the
Dala Casa case (#0701-5) and rendered the opinion that the courts would probably not construe
an approval as being a spot rezoning.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS - CASE NO. 0611-3 (J.C. FAW PROPERTY): Acting
Planning Director Steve Warren said the applicant (Eric Wood) was not ready to present the rights
of way information at the 7 P.M. meeting. It was the consensus of the board to remove the
request from the agenda, and to advise Mr. Wood that he could contact the county when ready.
(Mr. Warren will share this decision with Mr. Wood).
ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Norman adjourned the briefing session at 5:55 p.m.
