change.
Swann said press releases would be sent next week, but some correspondence
had already been mailed. He said Crossroads had been waiting until the providers had
been determined.
Commissioner Robertson asked about HIPAA regulations and the clients'
records.
Swann said there shouldn't be much of a problem, but attorneys were reviewing
the laws governing the records to determine the proper way to handle them in the
transition.
Commissioner Johnson asked about the delays when deputies were called to
transport clients for hospitalizations. He said the deputies, at times, had to sit and wait
eight to ten hours.
Swann said the most recent information he had was that the problem was
"easing." He said a more thorough check into the situation would occur.
Commissioner Williams said some complaints had been voiced in the other two
counties.
Other: The staff then briefed the board on departmental agenda requests.
Commissioner Robertson mentioned the health department was "staying on top of
Medicaid."
Health Director Donna Campbell was asked the current environmental permit
wait time, and she said the backlog was down to two weeks.
ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Tice adjourned the briefing session at 5:55 p.m.
(Note: The commissioners ended the meeting earlier than usual for the purpose of
extending condolences and visiting with the county manager and his family at an area
funeral home. County Manager Joel Mashburn's son, John, passed away on Saturday,
October 29, 2005.)
