BRIEFING MINUTES
MAY 3, 2005
The Iredell County Board of Commissioners met in Briefing Session on Tuesday,
May 3, 2005, at 5:00 p.m., in the Iredell County Government Center (South Wing Conference
Room), 200 South Center Street, Statesville, NC. (Note: At 4 p.m., the commissioners met at
the Solid Waste Facility, located at 354 Twin Oaks Road, Statesville, NC, for a demonstration of
the Posi-Shell Covering System.)
Present were:

Steve D. Johnson
Marvin Norman
Ken Robertson
Staff present: County Manager Joel Mashburn, Planning & Code Enforcement Director
Lynn Niblock, Planning Supervisor Steve Warren, Chief Deputy Rick Dowdle, Purchasing
Agent Dean Lail, Cooperative Extension Director Ken Vaughn, and Clerk to the Board
Jean Moore.
CALL TO ORDER by Chairman Tice.
REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF A REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT WITH
THE TOWN OF MOORESVILLE FOR $200,000 IN CONJUNCTION WITH A WATER
LINE EXTENSION TO DALE EARNHARDT, INC: Economic Developer Melanie
O'ConneIl Underwood said the Town of Mooresville recently approved a request to construct a
water line to Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI). Underwood said DEI would eventually expand its
facility and create 20 new jobs. She said once the line was constructed, new tax base would
occur, and the county had been requested to participate in the cost up to $200,000. Underwood
said the agreement stipulated the money would be repaid as commercial growth occurred along
the water line.
OTHER: The department heads and staff then presented agenda requests, and a summary
of their comments may be found in the regular minutes.
ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Tice adjourned the briefing session at 6:00 p.m.
