He said that people who depended on the school system for even a meager living were impacted by the decisions made by the school officials, and it was for this reason that he wrote the resolution. OTIO by Commissioner Johnson to adopt the following resolution. VOTING: Ayes - 5; Nays - 0. RESOLUTION CALLING FOR THE IREDELL-STATESVILLE SCHOOL BOARD TO REFRAIN FROM FURTHER ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY INCREASES UNTIL PROGRAMS ARE RESTORED AND ACCOUNTING PROCEDURES ARE FULLY IN PLACE TO PRECLUDE ANY FURTHER HARDSHIP UPON STUDENTS, TEACHERS, PARENTS, CAFETERIA WORKERS, MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL, AND ALL IREDELL COUNTY TAXPAYERS WHEREAS, a lack of consistency in accounting procedures, coupled with accounting irregularities, and a lack of oversight by the school board has resulted in a hardship on students, parents, teachers, support personnel, and taxpayers; and WHEREAS, consistent and accurate accounting procedures, sound management, and oversight by elected officials are indispensable characteristics in the success of any school system; and WHEREAS, despite the hardship caused by accounting irregularities, and despite the fact that administrative personnel cannot give a guarantee against further cuts in this year's school budget, a substantial administrative salary increase occurred; and WHEREAS, further cuts will cause further hardship. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Iredell County Board of Commissioners calls upon the Iredell-Statesville School Board to refrain from any further increases in administrative salaries until programs are restored and accounting procedures are in place to preclude any further hardship upon students, teachers, parents, cafeteria workers, maintenance personnel, and all Iredell County taxpayers.
