Employees exempt from the FLSA are expected to work the number
of hours necessary to ensure the satisfactory performance of
their duties An adiustment for excess hours may be made in
lieu of the use of accrued vacation or sick leave during a
fourteen day work period when the number of hours worked is
eighty or more.
The department head may authorize compensatory time hour for
hour. for an exempt employee who is reauired to work more than
48 hours in a work week due to work load, personnel scheduling
or other extenuating circumstances Compensatory time will be
limited to an accrual of 80 hours An employee. who leaves
e_mulo_vment of the county for any reason will not be entitled
to pay for unused compensatory time Department heads.

ARTICLE V. Conditions of Employment
Section 1. Work Week
The standard work [for all employees of the various departments of
the county, with the exception of law enforcement, emergency
medical service personnel, and communications, shall be five (5)
eight (8) hour days and are subject to the overtime provision set
forth in Article III, Section 14. Department heads shall work
those hours necessary to ensure the satisfactory performance of
their departments, but not less than forty (40) hours per week.
When the activities of a particular department require some other
schedule to meet work needs, the county manager may authorize a
deviation from the normal schedule.] period for employees not
