REQUEST FOR CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSAL TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING
SERVICES FOR TRIED CREEK DAMB FLOOD CONTROLt Jerry Lundy said that
RFPs were sent out several weeks ago and five responses were
received. Two firms were interviewed. A committee composed of
Lundy, Joel Mashburn, Larry Hendrix, Jim Summers, Wade Carrigan,
and a representative from Rowan County recommend that the contract
for the work be awarded to Applied Geosciences and Engineering,
Inc. A contract has been reviewed by the county attorney and
several changes were suggested. The budgeted amount for this work
was $32,000. The recommended proposal is lower than this amount
less the contingency.
The county manager advised that he had discussed this matter
with the Rowan County manager. In the past, Iredell has
participated with Rowan on a 70/30 basis (Rowan 30%). Rowan
officials indicate they will contribute the same percentage for
this study. When work areas are identified, and a plan is
developed to accomplish the work, monetary participation from Rowan
can also be expected.
MOTION by Commissioner Madison to accept AG & E's proposal of
$31,937.30 (leaving contingency out). This would be within the
budgeted amount. If a budget amendment is necessary this can be
brought back to the Board when revenues are received. (Also, to
make necessary corrections to contract as recommended by County
Attorney.)
