Stewart (due to illness) Staff Present: Information County Manager Joel Mashburn, Finance Director Susan Blumenstein, Systems Management Director Bob Abernathy, Inspect ionslPlanning Director Lynn Niblock, County Planner Lindsey Hobbs, Communications Director Larry Dickerson, EMS Director Tracy Jackson, Recreation Director Robert Woody, Health Director Ray Rabe, and Clerk to the Board Jean Moore. CALL TO ORDER by Chairman Tice. JEFF MCKAV REQUESTS A PUBLIC HEARING ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2000, REGARDING AN ECONOMIC INCENTIVE FOR PLASTIFLEX NORTH CAROLINA, LLC: McKay, the Director for the Greater Statesville Development Corporation, was accompanied to the meeting by Steven Dunn, a representative Plastiflex. McKay said the company manufactured flexible hoses and Planned to lease a 64,0000 0 sq. Park. He said the company was foot facility in the Sherrill Industrial prepared to make a $3 million investment in the county and would qualify fora $50,760 incentive over the next five years. McKay requested the board to conduct a public hearing at the September 19 meeting regarding the incentive request. Dunn said the company had a plant in California and one in Canada. Belgium is the company's headquarters, and the chiefproduct is polyethylene used primarily in swimming pools.
