Blumenstein said she would talk with the maintenance staff to see how much was being paid for all dumpster rentals used by the county and compare it with the cost of purchasing them. No changes from the county manager's recommendation. GARAGE BUDGET: The county manager said it was now the staffs recommendation to retain the building that once housed the garage. He said the land (approximately two acres) and building could be used for storage, e.g., the county's landscaping equipment. Commissioner Johnson said some firemen had asked if the county had a place where the air van could be stationed. Mashburn said there was a large bay at the former garage building (Loray community) that might be suitable. In reference to the new garage on Meeting Street, Mashburn said one lift would need to be moved. No changes from the county manager's recommendation. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Blumenstein distributed an updated economic incentive project payment listing through year 2009. Statesville Airport: Commissioner Johnson said the Lowe's Corporation had shown some interest in stationing its aircraft at the airport; however, the facility did not have an instrument landing system. Johnson said the match from Iredell County to aid in obtaining the system would be $100,000. Mr. Johnson said he had told the airport officials it was his feeling that if the county aided in the purchase, the $100,000 would have to be viewed as an economic incentive. No changes from the county manager's recommendation. GENERAL GOVERNMENTAL: Mashburn said a contingency amount of $200,000 was included in this section.
