Each VFD will he allowed to have one defibrillator that will be paid from fire tax funds; however, some departments (Harmony/Mt. Moume/Shephcrds/Troutman/County Line/Sheffield-Calahan/Stony Point/Wilkes-Iredcll) have not requested a defibrillator. Mrs. Caldwell said some departments might not want a defibrillator because they already had one, or because they did not have a First Responder Program. In addition, Caldwell said one individual (Don Parker) had requested to obtain a unit for his own use. She said he was a First Responder and would pay for the defibrillator out of his own money. IREDELL COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT FEE COLLECTION POLICY POLICY STATEMENT: Fens for health depanmem services are authorized under NC General Statutes 13OAJ9, provided that (1) they are in accordance with a plan recommended by the Health Director and approved by the Board of Health and County Commissioners, and (2) they are not otherwise prohibited by law. 1 he demand for public hwhh services is increasing, as are the costs of providing these services. Additionally, the resources to fund these services are diminishing. The health depanmem serves the public interest best by first assuring that all legally required public health services are famished for all citizens, and then by providing as many recommended and requested public health services as possible. Fees are a mans to helpdistribute services to the citizens of Iredell County in accordance with need, as well as to help finance and thus extend public health services. All payments from individuals and third parry payors shall be used to suppon the senices of the program in which revenues were eamed. All foes collected shall be used in the current year or succeeding fiscal yon. A person must he a resident of the county to be eligible for services except as mandated by North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
