APPOINTMENTS BEFORE THE BOARD
IREDELL-STATESVILLE SCHOOLS - BUDGET AMENDMENTS: Mrs. Paula Gwaltney, I/S Schools Finance
Officer, presented Budget Amendments for the county commissioners' approval. There are four budget
revisions which she summarized at this time.
MOTION from Commissioner Madison to approve Budget Amendments A's 3, 4, 5, and 6, as presented.
In discussion of the MOTION Commissioner Boone said the funds remaining from the confor struction
project would allow the school system to purchase these furnishing ithouttoospeak bto the boars Cana funds.

resolution in opposition
WHEREAS, the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners have proposed a one percent (1%) payroll
tax upon all persons employed within Mecklenburg County.
WHEREAS, this one percent (1%) tax is estimated to generate 94 million dollars for Mecklenburg
county with one-half of the dollars generated from commuters to be forwarded to the home county of
the commuting employees being taxed.
WHEREAS, the tax is aimed at commuters who work in Mecklenburg County and live in neighboring
